Utah Auto Dealer License Requirements
Utah Garage Liability Insurance Requirements
Combined Single Limits (CSL) – $80,000
Personal Injury Protection (PIP) – $3,000
Bond Requirements
New or Used Motor Vehicles Sale – $75,000
Motorcycles or Trailers – $10,000
Signage
Utah requires as permanent sign not less than 24 square feet in size that has to be either painted on the office or attached with nails, bolts or displayed on the grounds.
Place of Business
Utah dealerships must comply with all local and state ordinances. The dealership must have one of the following boundaries: fence, post, chain or building. The lot must also have a permanent building large enough to accommodate an office to keep the company books and other records. There must be enough space for at least three (3) vehicles.
Dealer Plates
Dealer plates must be used for transporting vehicles to and from auction and test drives. The state requires at least five (5) dealer plates and additional plates may be offered for every 25 vehicles sold.
