What you need to Know
Party Buses are governed by the Georgia Department of Public Safety out of Atlanta, Georgia. In addition to the insurance costs, businesses must also pay a fee to operate. Less than 6 vehicles $90, 6-15 vehicles $165, and over 15 vehicles $215. All owners, partners, and officers must submit a Certified 3-Year Driver’s History Report (MVR) and are subject to a background check. All drivers must obtain a “Chauffer” endorsement from the Department of Driver Services for 15 passengers and under and a Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with a passenger endorsement for 16 or more drivers.
After the policy is bound, the insurance company will authorize your business by filing a Form E (Commercial Liability and Property Damage Insurance) to the Georgia Department of Public Safety.

Please note the above limits of liability insurance are for Class “B” limousine carrier (Party Buses fall under this class code) and are for intrastate only. Intrastate means that you do not cross the Georgia state line into another state. If your Party Bus crosses state lines, you are then governed by Federal Motor Safety Administration (FMCSA) and the limits of liability insurance are higher. FMCSA requires $5,000,000 Combined Single Limit (CSL) for 16 or more passengers, including the driver, and $1,500,000 CSL for 15 or less passengers, including the driver.

Georgia Party Bus Coverage Options
- Liability Coverage – This type of insurance will protect you against liability risks that you will face if you, or an employee of yours, is involved in an accident and found to be at fault. Your liability insurance will cover bodily injury claims, providing financial support for the medical expenses of the injured party. In addition, your liability coverage will also include property damage incurred in the accident. If legal action is taken out against you because of the accident, your liability insurance will also cover the cost of your defense regardless if you are found to be at fault or not.
- Physical Damage – This is the type of insurance that you need to pay for the damage to your own Party Bus during an accident or because of another incident. Coverage will include both comprehensive, damage caused by vandalism, theft or severe weather, as well as collision damage caused by an accident.
- Customization – This coverage will provide additional money for customization done to your party bus.
Underinsured or Uninsured Motorists Insurance – If your limo is damaged or you sustain injuries in an accident that is caused by a party that does not have sufficient auto insurance coverage, this coverage will pay for your property damage and injuries. - Employment Practices Liability Insurance – To protect you against wrongful acts of the employment process, i.e. wrongful termination, discrimination, or sexual harassment.
