General Freight - $750,000 Combined Single Limit (CSL)

Household Goods - $300,000 (CSL) and Cargo Insurance $25,000 per vehicle, $50,000 Catastrophe

These limits apply to only vehicles weighing more than 10,000 GVW. The state also requires a USDOT Number.

Insurance Coverage Options

Physical Damage - Physical Damage provides coverage for the box truck in the event it gets into an accident, theft or weather related. Most insurance companies will ask you for the Stated Amount, meaning what its the value of the truck.

Auto Liability Insurance - Liability Insurance provides Bodily Injury and Property Damage to others that you hit with your box truck. Bodily Injury and Property Damage are combined under one limit referred to as the Combined Single Limit.

Uninsured Motorist - There are two forms of Uninsured Motorist in Georgia. Uninsured Motorist Bodily Injury (UMBI) and Uninsured Motorist Property Damage (UMPD).

UMBI refers to your medical in the event that you are hit by another driver and that driver has no insurance or not high enough limits of Bodily Injury to cover your injuries.

UMPD is physical damage coverage for your box truck in the event that you are hit by someone that does not have insurance or their limits are too low to cover the damage.

Medical Payments - Is another optional coverage for your medical payments in the event of an accident that is or isn’t your fault.

Cargo Insurance - If you are hauling for hire you may want to protect your customers goods in the event of an accident or theft.

General Liability - If you are doing work outside of the box truck then general liability insurance would add an extra layer of protection.

Frequently Asked Questions

How Much Does Box Truck Insurance Cost in Georgia?

Costs of insurance vary by hundreds or factors. Credit, location and driver age, just to name a few. You can expect to pay a higher amount in Atlanta, GA than smaller, rural towns. We have seen rates as low as $9,800 and as high as $20,000.

Why is Credit taken into Consideration for my Insurance Rates?

Insurance companies have found that the higher your credit score the less chance that you will file a claim. It is a good rule of thumb to check your credit score prior to getting a quote to make sure there’s nothing on your credit report that can hurt your pricing.

Will we do Standalone Cargo Coverage?

Yes, in certain cases. We work with dozens of insurance companies that specialize in cargo insurance. One case in which we can not provide standalone cargo insurance is when you rent or lease box trucks short term. The lease must be 12 months or more.

What is Combined Single Limit (CSL)?

CSL is used in commercial auto insurance to simplify the limit in which the maximum amount an insurance company will payout in the event of an accident. Under a Personal Auto Policy limits are split between Bodily Injury and Property Damage.

In Commercial Auto Insurance, Property Damage and Bodily Injury are combined under one limit.
