Kentucky Household Movers Insurance Requirements

The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet requires all household moving companies to file a Form E Uniform Motor Carrier Bodily and Property Damage Liability Certificate of Insurance and Form H, Uniform Motor Carrier Cargo Certificate of Insurance prior to conducting business. Both these forms will be issued by the insurance company after the policy is bound. The following is the insurance limit requirements.

• Trucks weighing 18,000 lbs and Less - Bodily Injury $100,000 per occurrence, $300,000 per accident and property damage at $50,000. This limit can be combined into a Combined Single Limit (CSL) of $350,000
• Trucks weighing 18,000 lbs and More - Bodily Injury $100,000 per occurrence, $600,000 per accident and property damage at $50,000. This limit can be combined into a CSL of $650,000
• Kentucky requires a Form H which is a Cargo Certificate stating that you have cargo insurance but does not have a limit. Our cargo insurance companies can go as low as $5,000 and as high as $300,000.
