How Much Does Garage Liability Insurance Cost in Florida? (Real 2026 Pricing Guide)

At Barbee Jackson Insurance we spend a lot of time on the phone speaking with clients and finding them the best rates for their garage operation. We insure thousands of garage businesses across the United States, but the majority of the ones we insure are right here in our home state of Florida (so we really know pricing).

If you link to our page Florida Garage Liability we say you can get Garage Liability Insurance here in Florida for as little as $700. That is 100% true depending on what type of business you are operating. As in all businesses, the higher the risk, the higher the insurance will cost.

Breaking Down Cost by Type of Garage Business

Repair Shops The State of Florida says Repair Shops must maintain a minimum of $25,000 in liability insurance. Typically the insurance companies will write around that amount up to $30,000. So a single person operation with just the basic $30,000 in garage liability will expect to pay around $700.

The insurance company expects to be paid in full, but finance options are available for a cost. Insurance agencies like ours will work with outside finance companies to give our clients monthly payment options, just like how car dealerships work with lenders.

When looking at the cost of insurance it is important to remember that location matters. Businesses in South Florida can expect to pay higher premiums than businesses located in the Florida Panhandle.

Dealerships Just like repair shops, dealerships are required to carry a minimum of $25,000 in liability insurance. Unlike repair shops, the dealership's inventory is on the road at a much higher rate.

Things like customer test drives and moving the vehicles back to the lot from auction means the vehicles are more likely to get in an accident.

Unlike General Liability, Garage Liability covers liability to others for vehicle accidents. For example, a customer takes a car for a test drive and accidentally rear-ends another car. The policy would pay for the damage caused to the other person's vehicle your client hit.

Important to remember…Garage Liability is for others' property and/or bodily injury — not yours. If you want to cover your inventory then you must add Dealer Open Lot. Read more on Dealer Open Lot.

What dealerships can expect to pay is around $1,200 before financing. This is dependent on location — the bigger the city, the more you can expect to pay.
