Driving a log truck is a profession that has been around for a long time. The job requires a good bit of experience and hustle. Many of my Alabama log truck insurance clients have been driving for years. Many of the clients run under the authority of someone else but most of them are primary operators with their own DOT and their own insurance. The insurance coverage required on the Alabama log truck policy provides a solid base of coverage that can be expanded upon if further coverage is requested.
Coverage Options For Alabama Log Truck Insurance
The commercial auto policy form used for my Alabama log truck clients is very similar to the commercial auto policy form used in other states. There are a couple of coverage options that are unique to Alabama. I have explained the major coverage options available on the policy below.
- Commercial Auto Liability Coverage – This type of insurance will protect you against liability risks that you will face if you or an employee of yours is involved in an accident and found to be at fault. Your Alabama log truck liability insurance will cover bodily injury claims, providing financial support for the medical expenses of the injured party. In addition, your liability coverage will also include property damage incurred in the accident. If legal action is taken out against you because of the accident, the liability coverage on your Alabama log truck insurance policy will also cover the cost of your defense regardless if you are found to be at fault or not.
- Physical Damage – This coverage provides protection against physical damage directly to your property (Your Truck, Trailer). In the event that your vehicle is damaged the policy will pay you the actual cash value of the vehicle up to the stated amount on the policy. Once the value of the vehicle and the payout is determined you will then have to pay either your comprehensive or collision deductible. The physical damage coverage will include comprehensive damage coverage for losses such as vandalism, theft or severe weather, as well as collision damage caused by an accident.
- Underinsured or Uninsured Motorists Insurance* – If your truck is damaged or you sustain injuries in an accident that is caused by a party that does not have sufficient auto insurance coverage, this policy will pay for your property damage and injuries. There are different options available with this coverage such as an option for the coverage to be primary or secondary. You also have an option to include a deductible on your Uninsured Motorist coverage. It is best that you speak to your Alabama log truck insurance specialist at Barbee Jackson Insurance to determine which of these options is best for you.
- Cargo Coverage – Alabama cargo coverage is available if necessary but I know that 99% of my log truck clients DO NOT carry cargo coverage.
